When someone uses a event website public URL for a private event he sees:

This is an expected behavior for the situation as in the case service cannot recognize the guest and as it is private it cannot show the event information so it suggests the visitor to enter an email address so it could be checked in the guest list. When visitor enters his email he will get following email:
